College of Idaho vs. Arizona

Arizona's Ray Smith (24) gets helped from the floor to the locker room after his landing following a layup in the second half against College of Idaho at McKale Center, Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016, Tucson, Ariz. Kelly Presnell / Arizona Daily Star

Arizona redshirt freshman Ray Smith is expected to begin undergoing tests today to determine his exact leg injury, but he's already found perspective.

Already with strong religious beliefs -- and an outgoing, upbeat personality -- Smith tweeted after he was hurt in UA's exhibition game Tuesday that he's a "blessed man to even be where I am," noting that one of his close friends in his Las Vegas hometown was murdered recently.

Ray Smith was hurt in Arizona's Nov. 1 exhibition game against the College of Idaho, after suffering ACL tears in 2014 and 2015.

While thanking fans for their support, Smith also tweeted: "I'm thankful for what god has given me. End of discussion. Thank you but save the sorrows."

While UA was scheduled to begin testing Smith today, it is unclear if results will be known today or Thursday. Sean Miller said Tuesday that UA might not know about Smith for a "couple of days."
