Arizona Wildcats working to land final visit of five-star forward Jordan Brown

Five-star forward Jordan Brown has one official visit left to take, and there’s a pretty good chance Sean Miller is trying everything he can to make sure that trip is to Arizona.

Philippe Doherty, co-director of Napa’s Prolific Prep, where Brown played last season, said Friday that Miller has been speaking with Brown and his father, Dion, every week along with a few other coaches who remain heavily involved with the McDonalds All-American.

247’s Evan Daniels tweeted that Brown is favoring Arizona, Cal and Nevada, and Brown retweeted a Tipton Edits graphic showing the three leaders.

However, Doherty said the family has generally kept quiet about the process they are undertaking. Brown has already visited Cal, UCLA, St. Johns and Louisiana (Lafayette), where Dion Brown is in the school’s Hall of Fame, and he has been significantly interested in Stanford if admitted.

“They’re reviewing all the schools… the family hasn’t disclosed any of them, whether it’s three schools or five or seven,” Doherty said. “When I spoke to them this week, they’re looking at using that final official visit, now that they're done with Hoop Summit and McDonalds. To where, I don’t know.”

Doherty said Miller has been approaching Brown with the notion not just that he’ll be a key player but that he’ll also have good players around him. UA has received three commitments in the past three weeks and now has nine players lined up for 2018-19 so far, with four open spots.

UA hosted grad transfer guard Justin Coleman of Samford this week and is still waiting on a decision from former UA commit Brandon Williams, who is expected to wrap up his re-recruitment after visiting Gonzaga this weekend.

“Arizona is selling him on that they’re going to have a good team, the opportunity for playing time, coaching and that they play a national schedule,” Doherty said. Brown's family is “looking for a lot of different things – coach, fit, offensive system, the opportunity to play early in his career, the opportunity to get to the NCAA Tournament, a good strength and conditioning program, solid academics and good teammates.

"Regardless of where the school is located, it’s not as important as having the right fit.”
