Four-star guard Devonaire Doutrive officially became the first member of Arizona's new 2018 recruiting class by signing a letter-of-intent with the Wildcats on Wednesday night.
Laurian Watkins, Doutrive's guardian, said he signed the letter Wednesday after school and a workout. The combo guard gives the Wildcats flexibility at both guard spots depending on how the rest of their spring recruiting class plays out.
By signing a letter-of-intent, Doutrive sent a strong signal he is intent on playing for the Wildcats next season. UA signed Shareef O'Neal and Brandon Williams to non-binding scholarship papers in November but both decommitted late last season.
Arizona now has seven players on board for the 2018-19 season, counting returnees Alex Barcello, Dylan Smith, Brandon Randolph, Emmanuel Akot, Ira Lee and Chase Jeter. That leaves six scholarship spots still open.
The Wildcats are set to host three-star Lithuanian center and former UConn commit Lukas Kisunas next weekend. UA is also involved with a number of grad transfers.
