Five-star Northern California forward Jordan Brown will announce his college choice Friday, his father, Dion, confirmed to the Star via text message.
That's probably bad news for Arizona, which is not believed to have secured an official visit from Brown. Nevada appears to be the leader, while Brown is also considering Cal.
Earlier Thursday, Philippe Doherty, co-director of the Prolific Prep program Brown plays for, said Dion Brown told him that the family would have a discussion on Thursday evening and decide whether to make the decision in the next few days or take a final official visit.
"They think they’re going to decide and most likely they will decide, 95 percent probably by the end of the weekend," Doherty said, adding that a visit to Arizona "is in their thought process, yes, but two of the three finalists they have not taken an official visit to."
Brown also has not visited Nevada officially, though he has visited unofficially three times, the last time this past Saturday. He lives less than two hours away in Roseville, Calif.
Earlier Thursday, Zagsblog also quoted Dion Brown as saying Jordan would announce his choice on Friday.
Arizona has two scholarships remaining for the 2018-19 season and has plenty of opportunity to offer Brown. The Wildcats' frontcourt as of now has only Chase Jeter, Ira Lee and Ryan Luther, though Emmanuel Akot can also play power forward if needed.
