Salpointe vs. Buckeye

Salpointe’s Majok Deng, left, drives to the basket past Buckeye Union’s Otis Frazier in the 4A state playoffs.

The Arizona Wildcats are one of 12 programs on three-star Salpointe Catholic forward Majok Deng's radar. Deng posted his top 12 schools on Instagram Saturday afternoon.

Arizona joins Duke, Georgia Tech, Ohio State, Utah, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Stanford, UCLA, Rice, Princeton and Cal as candidates to land Deng.

Listed as the No. 35 small forward in the 2019 class, per 247Sports' national rankings composite, Deng led the Lancers to an appearance in the 4A state championship game, but fell short against a Mike Bibby-coached Shadow Mountain team.

The 6-foot-5, 175-pound Deng made an unofficial visit to Duke last September, which has been his only visit so far. During the 2017 Martin Luther King Classic at McKale Center, Deng was spotted wearing UA socks, which was tweeted by the Star's Bruce Pascoe.
