Unofficial stats from Arizona Wildcats' spring game
UpdatedBy Michael Lev / Arizona Daily Star
No official statistics were tabulated Saturday, when the Arizona Wildcats conducted their spring football game at Arizona Stadium. But I kept a play-by-play, and I was able to compile some notable numbers.
Although these stats are unofficial, they provide a snapshot of who stood out during the scrimmage. Some disclaimers: Not every player is listed, and I did not keep track of tackles.
Passing
UpdatedKhalil Tate: 18 of 28, 239 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception
K’Hari Lane: 7 of 13, 94 yards, 1 touchdown, 2 interceptions
Rhett Rodriguez: 7 of 13, 65 yards, 1 touchdown, 0 interception
Rushing
UpdatedNathan Tilford: 17 carries, 91 yards, 2 touchdowns
Branden Leon: 14 carries, 139 yards
Anthony Mariscal: 10 carries, 71 yards
J.J Taylor: 8 carries, 41 yards
Receiving
UpdatedStanley Berryhill III: 7 catches, 103 yards, 1 touchdown
Shawn Poindexter: 6 catches, 133 yards, 1 touchdown
Cedric Peterson: 4 catches, 57 yards, 1 touchdown
Defense
UpdatedJustin Belknap: 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, 1 tackle for loss
Jace Whittaker: 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, 1 tackle for loss
Jarrius Wallace: 2 interceptions
Chacho Ulloa: 1 interception
Lee Anderson III: 1 sack, 1 tackle for loss
Jalen Harris: 2.5 sacks
JB Brown: 1.5 sacks
Rexx Tessler: 1.5 sacks
My-King Johnson: 1.5 tackles for loss
Notes
UpdatedAlthough the offense often stalled in the red zone, Tate had a pretty good day, completing 64.3 percent of his passes.
Why was Kevin Sumlin so pleased with the running backs? “Backups” Tilford, Leon and Mariscal combined for 301 yards on 41 carries (7.3 ypc). … The running backs combined for 10 receptions. UA backs caught 13 passes all of last season.
Harris had a more productive game than I originally thought; he’s one to watch in training camp.
