The Arizona Wildcats have addressed one of their biggest needs, at least in the short run.
Dylan Klumph — who has the second-highest career gross average in Cal history — is coming to Arizona as a graduate transfer.
Klumph had a 43.92-yard average in two seasons with the Golden Bears — just a fraction shy of the Cal career record (43.96). His 44.8-yard average as a redshirt sophomore in 2016 ranked eighth in the nation.
Klumph tweeted the news Friday afternoon, thanking his Cal coaches and his new position coach, Jeremy Springer:
“Coach Springer has blessed me with my next chapter in life by believing in me and my talents! I cannot express how blessed and excited I am to be able to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Arizona. Time to put Arizona punting back on top!”

Klumph is set to graduate in May and will join his new team over the summer.
Klumph attended Crespi High in Los Angeles and began his college career at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, California.
Klumph punted 96 times for Cal, dropping 29 inside the 20-yard line with only six touchbacks. Twenty-nine of his punts covered 50-plus yards, and 20 were fair-caught.
The punting operation was problematic for Arizona last season. The Wildcats ranked last in the Pac-12 in gross punting (34.2) and net punting (29.4). Arizona also had two punts blocked, each the result of the punter being unable to handle a low but catchable snap.
