Scooby Wright through the years

Scooby Wright should be in position to celebrate Saturday, when he's expected to be picked on Day 3 of the 2016 NFL draft.

The second day of the 2016 NFL draft is over, and Arizona linebacker Scooby Wright has yet to hear his name called.

This isn’t a hugely surprising development: The best-case scenario for the former Wildcats All-American appeared to be the third round. He now will have to wait until Saturday, when Rounds 4-7 are conducted. The draft resumes at 9 a.m. MST.

Another inside linebacker with Tucson ties, Canyon del Oro and Stanford grad Blake Martinez, also is expected to be selected at some point Saturday, most likely in Round 4 or 5.

At least two other Arizona players have a chance to be drafted. Safety Will Parks has been rising up teams’ boards and could be picked as early as the fifth round. Receiver Cayleb Jones’ stock has gone the other way, but with his size-speed ratio, he still could be selected.

The other Wildcat who might be drafted Saturday is defensive end Reggie Gilbert, who also worked out for teams at outside linebacker.

Whenever and wherever they go, we’ll have complete coverage here at Tucson.com.
