University of Arizona vs UTSA

Lineman Sani Fuimaono, dancing the haka with teammates as Arizona prepared to face UTSA earlier in the month, was a high school wrestling star in Honolulu before playing for UA, going on a Mormon mission and then returning to the Wildcats.

The Arizona Wildcats’ injury list for the Stanford game is shorter than it has been in weeks, but it does include one significant and surprising name.

Senior defensive tackle Sani Fuimaono – the heart and soul of the UA defense – is out because of a concussion.

Fuimaono took a hit to the head during the USC game Oct. 15. He left the game, returned and participated in a postgame news conference. It is not clear whether that concussion is keeping him out Saturday or whether he suffered a subsequent one.

Redshirt junior Luca Bruno is listed as Fuimaono’s backup at defensive tackle. Bruno has been battling a foot issue but isn’t listed on the injury report. He started 11 games last season.

Junior Tyrell Johnson is listed as questionable because of a hamstring injury suffered vs. USC. Johnson has been part of the rotation at running back, slot receiver and kickoff returner.

Offensive guard Freddie Tagaloa is probable because of a knee injury. He was also probable against the Trojans but did not play.

Neither of Arizona’s veteran quarterbacks, Brandon Dawkins and Anu Solomon, is listed on the report. Dawkins missed the USC game because of a concussion. Solomon has been out since Week 1 because of a knee injury.

Tailback Nick Wilson (knee) is out, as expected.
