Arizona Wildcats quarterback Khalil Tate (14) warms up before the first half of the University of Arizona Wildcats vs. USC Trojans college football game on Oct. 15, 2016, in Tucson, Ariz. Mike Christy / Arizona Daily Star

Freshman quarterback Khalil Tate is set to make his first career start when the Arizona Wildcats take on USC today at Arizona Stadium.

Brandon Dawkins, who has started the past five weeks, is not dressed. Dawkins suffered a concussion last week at Utah. Week 1 starter Anu Solomon (knee) also is not in uniform.

Tate played off the bench the past two weeks and performed well. He will face several of his former teammates from Junipero Serra High in Gardena, Calfornia, who are on USC’s roster.

Tate’s backups are Matt Morin, Arizona’s third-team tight end and holder, and walk-on Zach Werlinger. Morin played quarterback in high school.

Tailback Nick Wilson, listed as probable on the injury report because of an ankle injury, is dressed and took the first-team reps during warmups.

Other players who’ve been hurt who are dressed include fullback Jamardre Cobb, receiver Shawn Poindexter and guard Freddie Tagaloa. However, Christian Boettcher lined up with the first team at left guard at the end of warmups.
