Arizona tailback Nick Wilson (28) hasn't been fully healthy since the Grambling game. He should start Saturday vs. USC.

The Arizona Wildcats appear to be getting healthier, although uncertainty remains at the all-important quarterback position.

Five players who have been out recently are listed as probable on the injury report released Thursday afternoon, including tailback Nick Wilson (ankle). But quarterback Brandon Dawkins is questionable because of a concussion. So, like last week, there’s a very good possibility freshman Khalil Tate will make his first career start against USC on Saturday afternoon.

Week 1 starter Anu Solomon remains out of that mix. He continues to be listed as doubtful because of the knee injury he suffered Sept. 7.

Only one other player listed as probable, guard Freddie Tagaloa (knee), has started this season, but the rest had contributed in some capacity before getting hurt: defensive lineman Luca Bruno (foot), fullback Jamardre Cobb (knee) and receiver Shawn Poindexter (foot).

Nose tackle Parker Zellers, who has missed the past three games because of a knee injury, is listed as questionable, a possible sign that he’s progressing toward a return.

Freshman free safety Isaiah Hayes is out after suffering a concussion last week. He recently had replaced veteran Jarvis McCall Jr., who’s likely to return to the starting lineup.

The most positive development is Wilson being probable to play. He provides the offense with a multidimensional running threat when healthy. The question is whether he can do that for the full four quarters.
