One standout former Wildcat received good news on Saturday.
It wasn't Cayleb Jones, or Reggie Gilbert.
Jones, the former Arizona receiver was cut by the Philadelphia Eagles as teams cut their rosters to 53 players. Jones had surprised in making Philadelphia's initial 75-man roster cut — over veteran NFL receivers Reuben Randle and Chris Givens, who were released last week — but ultimately didn't make it to the regular season.
It's still entirely possible, though, that Jones is picked up to a team's practice squad (including the Eagles), if not signed to another team's active roster.
The same goes for Gilbert, who was released by the Packers.
In four preseason games, Jones tallied six catches for 49 yards. Gilbert amassed six tackles and 1.5 sacks in four games with Green Bay.
Friday, it was revealed that former UA safety Will Parks made the cut for the Denver Broncos, while ex-Wildcat defensive lineman Dan Pettinato (Texans) and receiver Austin Hill (Rams) were both cut.
Saturday, linebacker Scooby Wright made the Cleveland Browns' roster.
