Arizona is relatively healthy heading into the 2016 season.
The school listed only two players on the official injury report for the opener against BYU on Saturday (7:30 p.m., Fox Sports 1).
The two are receiver Tony Ellison (knee) and tight end Matt Morin (foot).
Ellison’s inclusion on the report is not a surprise. UA coach Rich Rodriguez indicated this week that Ellison has been battling injuries and might not be available for “a few weeks.”
Morin had not been listed on the depth chart at tight end but had emerged as the Wildcats’ No. 1 holder. That job likely will go to walk-on quarterback Zach Werlinger while Morin is out.
The injury report did not include a handful of players who are not in the mix to play because of injuries.
Tight end Brion Anduze suffered a knee injury in spring and is expected to miss the season.
Cornerback Sammy Morrison missed time in training camp because of an undisclosed injury but could return soon.
A pair of freshmen, offensive tackle Keenan Walker and linebacker Jacob Colacion, suffered knee injuries in high school and are likely to redshirt. Walker also was involved in an off-the-field incident earlier this summer.
Arizona also named its captains for the opener. They include the usual senior suspects - defensive lineman Sani Fuimaono and receivers Trey Griffey and Nate Phillips - as well as someone who won't play but will be part of the team all year long.
That would be offensive lineman Zach Hemmila, who died in his sleep of unknown causes a few days into training camp. Hemmila and his family will be recognized during pregame ceremonies and likely will be acknowledged before the UA's home opener next week.
