Rhedi Short was on Arizona's campus on Saturday for a "Junior Day" event. Then, he was a UCLA commit.
Notice the past tense โ Short is no longer committed to UCLA. A top UA target for 2017, the Wildcats are expected to be a favorite for the 3-star safety from Cathedral HS in Los Angeles.ย
"The decision was tough to make," Short said in a Twitter message. "But I have come to the realization that this is what's best for me and my future."
Short had been committed to the Bruins since October, but had added a lot of offers from major programs since then โ including an offer from Arizona in late February, along with Oregon, Oregon State, California, Washington and Washington State.
UCLA was actually his first scholarship offer back in October, after which Short promptly committed, but the Wildcats have come on strong recently. Short visited Arizona at the end of March, and then again on Saturday.
Scout.com lists Short as the 7th-best safety in the West, and No 3 in California.
Short is listed at 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds.
