The Wildcats have long talked about making a bigger dent on in-state recruiting.

In the 2017 cycle, they're off to a good start — Monday morning, the Wildcats added a verbal commitment from Higley tight end Bryce Gilbert. He's the third verbal commitment from Arizona in the 2017 class, joining Sabino athlete Drew Dixon and Catalina Foothills quarterback Rhett Rodriguez

Gilbert is rated a 3-star recruit and the No. 18 tight end in the West by Scout.com, which also has him as the sixth best overall recruit in the state.

The 6-foot-4, 220 pound tight end also had offers from Arizona State, Louisville, Nebraska, Utah and others. He's the second tight end in Arizona's 2017 class, joining 3-star Bryce Wolma of Saline, Michigan.

Arizona's class now has 14 verbal commitments and is rated the 17th best class in the nation by Scout. The Wildcats added a commitment from Long Beach Poly (California) linebacker Joshua Brown late on Sunday night.
