Even through Arizona's mass commitment spree for its 2017 recruiting class, four-star athlete Greg Johnson has remained the class's crown jewel, seven months after announcing a verbal commitment to the Wildcats.
Johnson's commitment came at a surprise, largely for its early timing, and it was long expected that other programs would still recruit him throughout his senior season at Augustus Hawkins in Los Angeles.
That's held true. This weekend, Johnson will take his first official visit of the season to Nebraska.

What does this mean?
Well, UA coach Rich Rodriguez has always railed against recruits taking visits while committed to Arizona, but Johnson is good enough that they'll let it slide. The bigger concern becomes if Johnson is actually exploring possibilities elsewhere. It's long been believed that Johnson and his five-star teammate Joseph Lewis, a receiver, were looking to potentially play in college together.
Arizona is still considered a contender for Lewis, but Nebraska is the likely favorite for him.
At minimum, it's a situation that begs watching. Arizona has known from the beginning that, even with an early commitment from Johnson, it was going to take some additional recruitment to keep him in the fold.
It's also likely that USC, UCLA and other schools are still pushing Johnson to take a visit as well.
