Former Arizona safety Chuck Cecil compiled All-America honors in 1986 and 1987, and was named the Pac-10’s defensive player of the year his senior season, all while maintaining a 3.39 GPA in finance. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2009.

An all-time Arizona Wildcats great is coming home.

Former UA All-American safety Chuck Cecil is joining the staff as director of player development.

After a seven-year NFL playing career, Cecil coached in the league with the Titans and Rams from 2001-16.

"Chuck will be an outstanding addition to our staff," UA coach Rich Rodriguez said in a news release. "His playing career both collegiately and professionally speaks for itself, and he's been a very successful professional coach. I'm excited to utilize his experience and connections as a former Wildcat to fill a variety of key roles within our program."

Arizona lost Matt Dudek, who had been its general manager and director of player personnel, earlier this week.
