The last time: Arizona pulled out a 77-66 win over Washington at McKale Center on Jan. 29, but the Wildcats werenβt happy about it. UA struggled early against Washingtonβs zone defense, trailing 33-31 at halftime, and gave up 18 offensive rebounds that led to 18 second-chance Husky points. Arizona had five players in double figures but shot just 7 for 21 from 3-point range.Β

Washington keeps losing, whether it has Markelle Fultz or not. The Huskiesβ Jan. 29 loss at Arizona turned out to be only their third loss of what is now an eight-game losing streak. Fultz missed Washingtonβs losses at Utah and Colorado last week with an unspecified knee issue, but returned on Thursday to play 30 minutes against ASU.Β Fultz heaved a halfcourt shot at the buzzer that hit the rim but bounced off, leaving the Sun Devils with an 83-81 win and the Huskies with yet another loss.Washington has played with a smaller lineup featuring Dominic Green at power forward, but appears unlikely to use it much on Saturday against Arizona, while the Huskies have also been going with New Zealand big man Sam Timmins at center.Β

The potential No. 1 pick in the June NBA Draft will likely be playing the final home game of his short Huskies career, but heβll need help to end it on a good note before the Husky fans. That hasnβt happened much this season.Β

The Seattle native pulled down more defensive rebounds (12) at Washington State on Thursday than any guard Sean Miller says heβs coached, but heβs in a shooting slump and, with Kadeem Allen iffy for Saturday, the Wildcats need him defensively, too.Β

βTheyβre a completely different team if Markelle Fultz plays or if he doesn't. Youβre talking about one of the best basketball players in the country. Theyβre different on offense. He provides an explosive element where they can just go get a basket and rely on him. Without him theyβre more often running their plays and running their actions. Thatβs the difference. Theyβre playing a lot of zone. They really hurt us offensive rebounding in game one. Their low post players were really good in game one.β β UA assistant coach Mark Phelps, who scouted the Huskies.Β

Already suffering from a broken pinkie, Washington forward Malik Dime has been officially suspended since Feb. 10 for slapping a fan at Colorado. But his time may be up Saturday, just in time for a possible Senior Day appearance.
Washington coach Lorenzo Romar wouldnβt tip his hand Friday, saying only that βweβll know for sure tomorrow,β and wouldnβt comment on whether Dimeβs status as a senior in his final home game would make a diference.
But UA coach Sean Miller said he's expecting Dime will play, and Romar indicated that Dimeβs action at Boulder was not characteristic of his overall behavior. Dime has apologized to the heckler he slapped, and the fan did not press charges.
βI chalk it up to human nature, in that there are things Iβve done in my lifetime that Iβve been surprised I did,β Romar said. βI look back and say, `I canβt believe I did that. Thatβs not Malik Dime. Thatβs not Malik Dime.βΒ

While itβs Senior Day for Dime and effectively for Fultz, Saturday's game undoubtedly also has meaning for UA guard Allonzo Trier. Heβs from Seattle and attended Lorenzo Romar camps at UW since he was in the fourth grade.
But Trier struggled with fouls in his first effort at Hec Ed last season, fouling out after 13 minutes, and heβs on a 3-for-17 shooting slump in his past two games.
βHeβs still finding his way,β Miller said. βSometimes he forces the issue, trying to get a comfort level on finding a shot but heβs an efficient type of guy. He doesnβt need to do that. Thatβs part of what we have to continue to work with him on.βΒ

Washington has had success going with smaller lineups this season, using the 6-6 Dominic Green at power forward sometimes and getting a boost from Carlos Green lately, according to Huskies coach Lorenzo Romar.
But Washington may not deploy that sort of lineup today, not with Lauri Markkanen at power forward for Arizona, and Dusan Ristic or Chance Comanche at center.
βAgainst Arizona, theyβre just too big and methodical for that to probably be effective in that game,β Romar said. βBut who knows. If the game presents itself and we have to try different things maybe that could work. But I know (against ASU Thursday) when we played bigger, we were more effective.β
Romar has turned to New Zealand freshman Sam Timmins at center, saying heβs been particularly helpful in the Huskiesβ zone defense.Β
βWhen weβre in the zone, heβs very smart back there and he has a nice presence. Heβs very active,β Romar said. βOut of all our frontline guys he gets more deflections than anyone because heβs quick to read situations and you just feel him back there.βΒ
