Nick Johnson dropped back into town this weekend just in time to see his "record" in the Wildcats' annual preseason mile run erased by ... former backcourt mate T.J. McConnell.
UA coach Sean Miller said on Twitter that McConnell ran the mile in 5:17, beating Johnson's mark of 5:21 that he ran last year.
"Leaders emerge by what they do not what they say," Miller's Twitter post said. "Our journey together is just beginning."
UA said guard Trey Mason was second in 5:22, followed by Gabe York, Parker Jackson-Cartwright and Stanley Johnson. Times for runners after the top two finishers were not disclosed, nor were any other results. (The event was closed to media.)
