Quick hits from Arizona’s post-practice media availability Wednesday evening:

  • It appears leading rusher Nick Wilson won’t play in the New Mexico Bowl on Saturday, as Wildcats coach Rich Rodriguez all but declared him out. “It doesn’t look very good for him for Saturday,” Rodriguez said. The official injury report is expected to be released Thursday. Senior Jared Baker likely will get the bulk of the work. QB Anu Solomon suggested slot receiver/return specialist Tyrell Johnson also could get some carries.
  • Arizona sent its senior class out in style. At the end of their final on-campus practice, the seniors lined up beyond the end zone in front of what used to be the right-field wall at the baseball stadium. Each player was introduced over the PA system and had his own “walk-up” song while making his way back to where the rest of the team was gathered. Punter Drew Riggleman did cartwheels to Sir Mix-A-Lot’s “Back Got Back.” Kicker Casey Skowron went last and was introduced as “Love Me Sexy.” Here are some clips from the proceedings:
  • Rodriguez said sophomore Cam Denson will get a look at receiver during spring practice, which is slated to begin in early February. Denson, who attended Salpointe Catholic High, has 38 tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble and a sack this season.
  • Receiver Jordan Morgan is no longer with the team, the Star has learned. A 2014 recruit from Beaverton, Oregon, Morgan grayshirted and joined the Wildcats after the ’14 season. He is not listed on the roster on the school’s website.
  • Rodriguez’s only issue with the 2016 schedule, which was released Tuesday, was the lack of a Thursday-night conference home game. “I think it would be a great atmosphere here” he said. But it’s a minor complaint compared to 2015’s bye-less schedule, which made it that much harder for injury-riddled Arizona to get healthy.
