Hello. It’s me.

Michael Lev here. New Arizona Wildcats football reporter for the Arizona Daily Star.

This is probably the only time I will quote Adele in this space. But it’s the first of many times I will provide you with quick hits from Arizona’s post-practice media availability, a staple from my days covering USC for The Orange County Register.

So without further ado, here we go:

  • Quarterback Anu Solomon (concussion) has been cleared and is expected to start in the New Mexico Bowl on Saturday, Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez said. Solomon missed the regular-season-ending game against Arizona State with his second concussion of the season.
  • Linebacker Scooby Wright III (foot) hasn’t experienced any setbacks during recent practices and also is expected to start vs. New Mexico. Wright has played in parts of only two games because of knee and foot injuries.
  • Rodriguez said senior Jerrard Randall has looked good at receiver and will get “some opportunities for sure” at that spot Saturday.
  • Rodriguez said he expects redshirt-freshman quarterback Brandon Dawkins to compete for the starting job in the future. One imagines that competition will commence during spring practice, which is slated to start in early February.
  • Rodriguez said the school will look into the possibility of a medical redshirt for junior linebacker Derrick Turituri, who has missed the past eight games because of a hip injury. He is not expected to play Saturday.
  • The Wildcats practiced on the turf at Arizona Stadium because of the wet conditions brought on by Monday’s rain. They will practice again Tuesday before flying to Albuquerque on Wednesday. The team will practice there Thursday and have a walk-through Friday leading up to Saturday’s game.
