The list of Arizona Wildcats on watch lists continues to grow.Β

Quarterback Anu Solomon and running back Nick Wilson were named to the Davey O'Brien and Doak Walker watch lists, respectively, on Thursday. The O’Brien award is given annually to the nation's top quarterback, while the Walker award goes to the best running back. Β

Solomon and Wilson were both named to the same watch list for the Maxwell Award, given to the nation's best player, last week. They join a long list of UA players who are early candidates for national awards: Cayleb Jones (Biletnikoff Award, best receiver), Casey Skowron (Wuerffel Award, community service), Freddie Tagaloa (Outland Trophy, best lineman), Drew Riggleman (Ray Guy Award, best punter) and Will Parks (Bednarik Award, top defensive player) have all made watch lists. Linebacker Scooby Wright has made two β€” the Lombardi and Nagurski awards β€” while Rich Rodriguez is an early candidate for the Bobby Dodd Award, given to the nation’s top coach.

Solomon started all 14 games as redshirt freshman a year ago, throwing for 3,793 yards and 28 touchdowns. Wilson rushed for 1,375 yards and 16 touchdowns as a true freshman a season ago. Both are expected to be key offensive players for the UA, which opens its season Sept. 3 against UTSA.
