The Salpointe Catholic girls team matched the boys by winning a third straight 4A state soccer championship, edging top seed Walden Grove 2-1.
Pueblo — wearing baby blue jerseys with the Spanish translation of “Guerreros” on the front — out-hustled No. 1 Gilbert Mesquite Tuesday night to upset the Wildcats 52-48 in overtime and advance to the 4A state championship game.
The Salpointe Catholic High School beach volleyball team won its third consecutive state title, defeating Goodyear Estrella Foothills 3-0 in the Division II final in Queen Creek.
