Stephen Berg, an All-Southern Arizona offensive lineman at Canyon del Oro High School who played five seasons at Arizona State, died Tuesday of colon cancer. He was 34.
Berg was Tucson's top football prospect in 2001. He chose ASU over offers from Arizona and UCLA. While with the Sun Devils, he developed into a three-year starter on the offensive line.Β
Berg went into medical product sales after college. He was diagnosed with cancer four years ago. He and his family relocated to Tucson's east side last year.Β
Berg is survived by his wife, Leslie Ann, and four children. A memorial fund has been created to support Berg's children. Click here Β to view it and donate.
