The Wildcast, Episode 318: Arizona pitcher Mariah Lopez previews softball season; Jay Johnson eager for UA baseball to compete again
It's been nearly an entire year since the last time the Arizona Wildcats softball and baseball teams took the field for a game, before the COVID-19 pandemic shuttered the 2020 season. With the spring sports season underway, the Star's Justin Spears and Alec White are joined by UA baseball coach Jay Johnson to discuss season expectations, personnel depth, pitching improvement and remembering the late MLB reporter Pedro Gomez, who died earlier this week. As the UA softball team prepares for its season-opening weekend next week in Tucson, pitcher Mariah Lopez joins the podcast to share her thoughts on the season and the uber-talented third-ranked Wildcats.
