Film Review Moana

The Disney hit film“Moana” will be shown June 2 at Reid Park’s Demeester Performing Arts Center.

Sometimes it can be hard to find things to do with the kids that don't cost an arm and a leg.

We're here to help.

Here are some free ways to spend time together, out of the house, this week:

Family Storytime

You'll read stories, learn about other books, do crafts, hear music and maybe watch a puppet show. It's about 45 minutes long and is for all ages. Bring the whole family.

Where: Oro Valley Public Library, 1305 W. Naranja Drive

When: 10 a.m. Wednesday

Three-year-old Jackson Richardson dances while grandfather Jim Zook looks on during preschool story time with librarian Cat Strong.

Dinosaur Discovery

In this presentation, designed for kids ages six to ten, you'll learn how big dinosaurs were, what they ate and why they disappeared. You'll also learn about fossils.

Where: Miller-Golf Links Library, 9640 E. Golf Links Road

When: 2 p.m. Thursday

Note: You'll need to get a program pass from the front desk at least 30 minutes before it starts. Space is limited.

Watch "Moana" at the park

We can't think of a better movie to see outside with all of your friends. Plus, there will be popcorn, soda, live music, food trucks, jumping castles, arts and crafts and balloon twisters. Go early to get a good spot and enjoy some pre-movie activities.

Where: Demeester Outdoor Performing Arts Pavilion at Reid Park, 900 S. Randolph Way

When: 6 p.m. Friday (Movie starts at 7:15)

Note: Bring money for food or bring your own. Click here for the FB event page.

Since its start in 2003, the Movies in the Park series has gone from a projector and a repurposed bed sheet to a digital projector and a movie screen. The series returns to the Demeester Performing Arts Center in Reid Park on the first Friday of each month through September.

Go swimming at a city pool

Kids get to swim for free this summer at all City of Tucson pools. There are some great pools that include water slides, spray features, splash pads and shade. It costs $2 for adults to swim.

Kids and adults alike take to the second day of city pool season during the warm afternoon atop the water slide at Quincie Douglas pool, 1563 E. 36th St., on Friday, May 31, 2013, in Tucson, Ariz.

There will also be more than 20 local food vendors with produce, coffee, pastry, grass-fed meats and more.

You have the option of purchasing a $6 wristband, which includes unlimited access to the ferris wheel, carousel and train at Trail Dust Town.
