See a movie outside at MOCA

The Museum of Contemporary Art hosts movies in their plaza every fourth Friday of the month. This month they're screening "Marwencol", a movie about a man that finds a different way to deal with reality. You can bring your own snacks or buy treats from POPPED Artisan Popcorn.

When: Friday, Sept. 23, 8 to 10 p.m.

Where: MOCA's Cox Plaza, 265 S. Church Ave.

Cost: $5 suggested donation

Go Greek

The Tucson Greek Festival is back, so start the weekend off right with gyros, Greek beer and baklava. A lot has changed so it doesn't matter if it's your first time or your 10th time, you're bound to feel like a newbie. Bring your kids, your friends, or your lover for a Tucson favorite.

When: Friday, Sept. 23, 3-11 p.m.

Where: St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 1145 E. Fort Lowell Rd.

Cost: Children under 12 are free and general admission is $3. There's also free admission for active-duty military, fire, police and first responders with ID.

Celebrate pomegranates

Yes, you read that correctly. Pomegranates grow well in our region and the Second Annual Pomegranate Festival celebrates the diversity, beauty and deliciousness of the ancient fruit. You will get to see, taste and learn about the different varieties.

Taste camping food

Bookmans Sports is cooking up the dehydrated food for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert with vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. If you like it, you can buy some at the store for your next camping trip.

Find the last missing home improvement piece

The Front Porch Pickins Vintage & Handmade Market is bringing you a second day of shopping. Perfect because Christmas is right around the corner.

When: Saturday, Sept. 24 and general admission: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on  Friday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday

Where: Tucson Convention Center, 260 S. Church Ave.

Cost: $20 for early entry or $7 general admission. 

Listen to some pretty powerful history

As part of Banned Book month, Bookmans Speedway is partnering with Jewish Family and Children Services bringing you Holocaust survivors to tell their stories. 

When: Saturday, Sept. 24, 1 to 3 p.m.

Where: Bookmans Speedway, 6230 E. Speedway Blvd.

Cost: Free

Find your plant

The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is hosting its annual plant sale but they want you to find exactly what you're looking for. There are plenty of plants meant for hummingbirds and butterfly gardens and much more. Browse the museum's plant list to find the plant you want. 

You'll even get the chance to buy a succulent for your desk.

When: Saturday, Sept. 24 (for members only) and Sunday, Sept. 25, 6:30 a.m. to noon

Where: Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum parking lot, 2021 N. Kinney Rd.

Cost: Free

Plant cost breakdown: 

   • One gallon pots are $9 each 

   • Two gallon pots are $14 each 

   • Five gallon pots are $20 each

   • Succulents are as low and start at $4

Put the spotlight on Richard Gilman 

Go to The Loft Cinema to watch "Spotlight" then talk to Richard Gilman, the former Boston Globe publisher depicted in the film. 

When: Sunday, September 25, 2 p.m.

Where: The Loft Cinema, 3233 E. Speedway Blvd.

Cost: Loft members and students pay $6 and everyone else pays $8.
