Continue the Mother's Day celebrations with a pop-up shop for moms and women β men are invited, too.
Selina Barajas, owner and founder ofΒ Mi Reina Mobile Boutique, joined forces with YWCA's Microbusiness Advancement Center to bring Tucson's south side a pop-up shop that empowers women.
The shop combines Baraja's concept of driving more local business to Tucson's south side and the advancement center's efforts to build a local economy that works for everybody with the spirit of Mother's Day.
"I wanted to incorporate Mother's Day into this pop-up as the main theme, however, the non-moms are just as vital," Barajas said. "So I looked at the word motherhood and 'HERHOOD' stood out to be our common thread to reclaim space and reconnect with others."
Marisol Flores-Aguirre, the advancement center's executive director, knew this was something she had to support.Β
"We know that local, small businesses are the heart of a healthy and growing economy and our partnership is a reflection of our commitment to supporting local entrepreneurs; particularly those who are women and immigrants," she said.
This is the first time Barajas has collaborated with the advancement center and hopes to host more pop-ups in the future.
