Biosphere 2

Steve Bannon represented financier Ed Bass in his attempt to wrest control of Biosphere 2 from its management team.

Biosphere 2 is throwing the coolest Earth Day party.

The University of Arizona is celebrating Earth Day and the 10th anniversary of UA research at Biosphere 2 on Saturday with a day of activities.

Biosphere 2, 32540 S. Biosphere Rd. in Oracle, about 30 minutes outside Tucson, is adding to its regular tour events special lectures and panel discussions on the future of the Earth, energy, water and food; beach and rainforest tours; and groundbreaking for a vertical farm complex.

1. There are kid-friendly activities like hermit crab releases every 30 minutes into the Biosphere ocean and ladybug releases into the jungle.

2. Calexico is playing at sunset.

3. The research center also will include a focus on Tucson as the first UNESCO City of Gastronomy. Tucson-based chefs, growers, producers, distillers, ranchers, innovators and advocates will be set up in the main tent on the Biosphere 2 lawn.
