Show your love of easy crafting with these melted heart-shaped crayons.
It's the perfect way to recycle those broken and nubby Crayolas rolling around in your kid's art box.
The best parts? This project takes about an hour an requires no artistic ability. The oven is your Picasso.
What you will need:
• Oven set at 200 degrees.
• Nontoxic crayons. We went for the 24 count of Crayola Crayons for $2.49.
• Heart-shaped baking cups or silicon molds. Anything that can hold a shape in the oven will do. You typically can find these in the candy or baking section of craft stores.
• Glitter (optional).
Start by preheating the oven to 200 degrees. While it's heating up, begin to remove the paper wrapping on the crayons. This was a bit of a struggle for us, we recommend scouring the wrapping with a butter-knife to make it easier to peel. Or try soaking the crayons in warm soapy water for 20 minutes.
Once the paper has been removed, begin to break the crayons up into small pieces with your hands.
Place your heart-shaped baking cups or molds on a baking sheet. Add one layer of the broken crayons to your molds. Get creative and mix up some crayons, it will create a swirly color effect once they're melted. You can also sprinkle some glitter into the mold for added pizazz ✨.
Break crayons up and add to molds.
When you're happy with molds, it's now time to bake. Place your hearts in the oven for 20 minutes or until very melty. Once they're done, remove and let cool for about 30 minutes, they should return back to a waxy state. Carefully peel the molds away from the crayon heart. You're now ready to color with love all the time.
Use them like regular crayons. ❤️❤️❤️
Color with love!
