1. What do you see as the most important issue to address and how would you address it?

The most important issue I see is at the center of all my campaigning.Β  It is the drop off in core education outcomes in Catalina Foothills School District, (CFSD).Β  Testing scores have fallen, even before the pandemic, drop out rates have increased, and the number of graduates attending college has started dropping.Β  Over 60% of CFSD students are open enrollment students and are critical to the financial stability of our school district.Β  Recent changes in state law provide financial support to parents if they choose to send their children to a private school.Β  Parents will select this option if the change will improve the opportunity for their children.Β  Keeping our school district at the highest performance level as possible is our best direction.

I believe the first place to begin change is to review and update our current education strategic plan.Β  We need to develop a team of parents, teachers, administrators, and board members to set a new vision centered on education excellence.Β  We need to move away from social emotional learning and political activism to a core education model.Β  Goals must be identified, measured, and reported regularly at board meetings.Β  We must move away from social, emotional, learning and political agendas to focus on basic education.Β  It won’t be easy and it won’t be done overnight.Β

2. Why should voters choose you, rather than other candidates?

I believe my experience working with governing boards, working as a team member and leader of committees, and work as a facility manager will bring the needed skills to improve board outcomes.Β  I will partner with parents, teachers and administration to improve board meetings and ensure transparency with all involved.Β  My leadership style is founded on openness and honesty, trust and respect, as well as responsibility and accountability.Β  My goals would be to refocus on excellence in basic education and to move away from a social, emotional, and political focus.

3. Could you please provide a list of the people and organizations that have endorsed you?

Although there are many supporters of my campaign for Catalina Foothills School Board I have focused on issues involving our district rather than seeking endorsements.Β
