The Shanty marks its 80th anniversary this year. The Nugent family β€” from left, Judy Nugent-Raetzman, matriarch Donna Nugent, Garrett Raetzman and Bill Nugent β€” has run the bar since day one. Donna Nugent ran it after her husband died in 1947, and son Bill took over in 1969-70. Donna stayed active with the bar up until her death in 2000.
