Arizona vs. USC

A secret weapon?

The Wildcats blitzed more in their last two games and, in the process, Tellas Jones may have found a new job. The UA safety has been lining up on the edge and rushing the quarterback in certain defensive packages. Jones, a junior, registered 14 total tackles in the last two games against USC and Utah. His seven tackles-for-loss this season leads the team.

"When Tellas gets around that edge, it causes quarterbacks to step up in the pocket," defensive tackle Jeff Worthy said. "It's a shorter distance for us to go, to make our move inside."

Jones did not play against UTSA or Washington State, and was limited to just one tackle against Colorado and Washington. Since then, he's been stellar. The Wildcats posted four sacks against Utah, the team's most since a Sept. 19 win over NAU and the most against a major-conference opponent since last year's win over ASU. In that game, the Wildcats sacked the Sun Devils seven times.

"Tellas is a good blitzer," Rodriguez said. "He probably would've done it sooner had he not been banged up some."
