CORONA, Calif. (AP) β Corona police officers say detectives are investigating a man who showed up at their station in a car that is suspected of being involved in a bank robbery.
Officers say they have no idea why the 72-year-old man showed up at the department β because detectives were investigating him in connection to the robbery before he had a chance to say. And when they got on the topic of issuing a search warrant, the man told officers that 26 dogs live in his house so he stays in the garage.
The Los Angeles Times reported (http://lat.ms/2w6pakZ ) Thursday that Robert Bustamante Flores was booked on suspicion of robbery. Police say animal cruelty charges are pending.
They found 35 dogs in his house living in squalid conditions.
Animal Control Officer Bill Sellers says it was by far the worst call he has taken in his career.
