TEMPE β Crews will begin refilling the Tempe Town Lake next week.
According to Tempe officials, more than 880 million gallons of water will begin flowing into the lake on Tuesday. It will take about two weeks to fully refill the lake.
The lake was drained in order to replace the dam at the west end of the lake. The inflatable rubber dam system was upgraded with a hydraulically operated steel gate dam.
Officials say the new dam will be more cost-effective, dependable and last for decades.
The lake is scheduled to reopen April 30.
