Local architect and restaurateur Jason Anderson is giving the location at 2502 N. Campbell Avenue another shot.

On Friday, Anderson will open Goodness, a fast-casual, healthy food concept that will focus on sandwiches, salads, wraps, fresh-pressed juices and power shakes.

Anderson closed his first concept at that spot, the Asian-fusion restaurant Umi Star, in January after an 18-month run.

The University of Arizona alum said he and the rest of his team have learned from their mistakes.

"Campbell Avenue is very commuter-based," Anderson said. "It is one of our main arteries. That is why we suffered with Umi Star, with being able to park people and do a true restaurant."

Anderson said Goodness will be geared toward Tucsonans who only have a 30-minute lunch window or who need to pick-up their meal and go.

"We wanted something where we could get people in and out," he said. "At the same time, we wanted to provide something that was healthy and tasted good."

Among the drink selections is the fresh-pressed juice The Healing Vibe with carrot, fuji apple, red beet, lemon, ginger and turmeric.

Power shakes — which are meant to be meal supplements — include The Hot Tropic, which comes with pineapple, banana, mango, coconut milk, coconut butter, chia seeds, dates, mint honey and vanilla.

The restaurant's food side of the menu will feature sandwiches ranging from albacore tuna to turkey, pesto and goat cheese and a quinoa salad with organic quinoa, spring mix, non-GMO corn, red bell peppers, cilantro, pickled onion, avocado, sun dried tomatoes and a chipotle vinaigrette.

Goodness will be open 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Sundays-Thursdays and 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
