Today Linda Ronstadt will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame — the first native Tucsonan to reach those hallowed halls.
That’s quite a journey for a Tucsonan who graduated from Catalina High School in 1964, still has family in the Old Pueblo and still visits her hometown.
The world knows her as a singer who has excelled in rock, country, standards and mariachi, has won 11 Grammys, two Academy of Country Music Awards, a Latin Grammy Award and an Emmy.
But in Tucson, we’ve known her as a child, high school student, budding artist, and a successful one who hasn’t let fame keep her from doing what she thinks is right.
Read recollections from those who knew her when, as well as a few whose lives she impacted after she was a household name, in today’s Caliente.
