At Sunnyside, the Blue Devils won a two-overtime thriller against visiting Glendale Cactus in a rematch of the 2003 Class 4A state championship game. Sunnyside scored 14 unanswered points to start the game, then watched as Cactus responded with 14 of its own. A Sunnyside missed field goal set Cactus up with the ball late in the fourth quarter with a chance to win, but the Blue Devils defense intercepted a pass to set up overtime. Both teams scored in the first overtime. Sunnyside senior quarterback Nick O'Hagin won the game with a scramble in the second overtime.

Sunnyside senior defensive back Daniel Hernandez sealed the victory when he intercepted a Glendale Cactus pass on fourth down in double OT.

Player of the game

O'Hagin. Wearing jersey No. 3, O'Hagin channeled his inner Russell Wilson by throwing for 183 yards and two touchdowns and rushing for 71 and the game-winning score.

By the numbers

35. Sunnyside went into the bag of tricks in the fourth quarter. Junior quarterback Jorge Abril turned a fake punt into a 35-yard pass to Gabriel Soto.
