MCDONALD'S LOVES ARIZONA

The Wildcats are making a habit of sending recruits to the McDonald’s All-American Game.

Prolific scoring guard Allonzo Trier of Nevada’s Findlay Prep was named to the McDonald’s West team Wednesday, the fourth straight year that the Wildcats have had a signee play in the prestigious high school event. He’s the 23rd Wildcat to be selected.

UA signees Brandon Ashley and Grant Jerrett played in the 2012 game, while Aaron Gordon and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson played in 2013 and Stanley Johnson did so last season.

This year, Arizona also has three other Top 100 signees– wing Ray Smith, guard Justin Simon and forward Chance Comanche – but none made the McDonald’s game. Smith has been out with an ACL injury during his senior season.

A native of Seattle, Trier is averaging 27.9 points and 5.7 rebounds for Findlay. The McDonald’s Game will be played on April 1 in Chicago.
