No more Staples

If he wanted to, Cal’s David Kravish could act like a curmudgeon to his younger teammates.

He could say “back in my day, we didn’t play these games in Las Vegas. No, we were at this barren wasteland referred to as Staples Center.”

Kravish was a freshman in 2012, the last time this tournament wasn’t held at MGM, and there’s clearly a difference in crowds, and especially in noise, Kravish said Wednesday. The Bears won against Washington State and will play Arizona on Thursday.

“The atmosphere here is more involved,” Kravish said. “No matter how many people are in the MGM, it feels like there’s always noise, always interest, there’s always a buzz around here.”
