Commissioner Scott touts 'China initiative'

Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott spent considerable time Friday touting his “China initiative” again. Blah, blah, blah. Globalization in college basketball? What a waste of money. Next season, Washington will play Texas in Shanghai. “We’ve got now a season-long coverage of Pac-12 men’s basketball on Look TV in China,” said Scott. On Friday, the commissioner entertained 28 athletic administrators from China at a Pac-12 tournament symposium at which Scott spoke. It would’ve been much more impressive if he had announced a deal with DirecTV or the end of the proliferation of late-night football games and Sunday basketball games.
