Rather than spend the weekend watching football on TV, the Arizona football coaching staff scattered to recruiting hot spots. Receivers coach Tony Dews went to the Newbury Park vs. Saugus game in Santa Clarita, California, to watch Newbury Park standout Darick Holmes, a senior who has already committed to Arizona. Newbury Park’s staff includes ex-UA quarterback Keith Smith and tackle Joe Smigiel. Also at the game: former star UA receiver Richard Dice, whose legacy with the Wildcats was that of a Sun Devil menace, going 3-1 against ASU. RichRod remains in urgent need of big-game players such as Dice, as well as Pac-12-ready linemen, linebackers and cornerbacks.
