CDO sophomore Washington smashes discus record
Here’s a name to keep in mind the next few years: CDO sophomore Turner Washington. He broke the school’s discus record last week, at 170 feet 10 inches. He is the son of three-time USA Olympic discus thrower Anthony Washington (1992, 1996, 2000) and nephew of Arizona’s 1994 All-Pac-10 lineman Warner Smith. Good genes, huh? CDO’s fence at its discus-throwing area had been 160 feet until Washington began hitting it. The school has now moved it back to about 180 feet.
