The sweet smell of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies is no longer a thing at 17 N. Stone Ave., downtown.Β

The NestlΓ© Toll House CafΓ© sign that hung outside the storefront, around the corner from the Fox Tucson Theatre, has been replaced by "Now Leasing" banners in the windows.Β

The cookie chain location, which also sold ice cream, milkshakes, cakes and other sugary treats, lasted less than a year in Tucson before shutting its doors.Β

Crest Foods, Inc., the franchisor for theΒ NestlΓ© Toll House CafΓ© concept, said the Tucson location closed over the summer.Β

It was the secondΒ NestlΓ© Toll House CafΓ© to launch in Arizona. The first location, at the Tanger Outlets in Glendale, remains open.

The cafΓ©'s closure came at the same time as the closure of Tucson Cookie Co., a late-night cookie delivery service near the University of Arizona, that announced it would not reopen in August after closing for the summer.Β
