The UA tweaked its Hall of Fame entrance standards over the last two years, which makes sense. The old qualifications were sometimes unusually difficult and squeezed out obvious selections such as Trung Canidate, who, with the exception of Ka’Deem Carey and Art Luppino, is probably the top running back in 100 years of UA football. He wasn’t a consensus All-American, didn’t lead the nation in any category, but was an absolute Sun Devil-killer and was twice a first-team All-Pac-10 choice. His top moment representing Arizona might have come during Friday’s induction ceremony when he presented his mother, Ruth, with his plaque and thanked her for raising five children by herself.
