Nadine Budimen, with bell, is this week’s Ben’s Bells recipient. She was nominated by the Pima County Master Gardeners for her generosity and creativity in creating a public-service announcement for the organization’s Home Garden Tour.

What: Ben’s Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is “belled.”

Last week’s recipient: Nadine Budimen.

Nominated by: Pima County Master Gardeners.

Why: Budimen, of Dungood Design, created a public-service announcement about the Home Garden Tour for the Pima County Master Gardener program, a cooperative extension program for the University of Arizona’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The gardeners are a volunteer-based, not-for-profit, service group that provides free gardening and horticultural advice to Pima County residents. They rely on fundraisers such as the garden tour. Budimen volunteered to film, edit and produce a 30-second video. She worked on the project for over six months. The PSA was featured on local television, in the gardeners’ website and newsletter. The tour was an unqualified hit.
