Arizona Public Media: AZPM was honored with the 2016 Governorsโ Award โ for outreach and programs surrounding its original production โPassing Onโ โ and 12 individual Emmys in four categories at the annual Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Emmy Awards Ceremony in Scottsdale on Oct. 8. AZPMโs individual winners (some received more than one) were Gisela Telis, Steve Riggs, Robert Barber, Andrew Brown, Sandra Westdahl, Mark McLemore, Mitchell Riley, John Booth and Nathan Huffman. Also, Booth, an executive producer, was inducted into the academyโs Silver Circle for his more than 30 years of television experience.
Alan’s Shoe House: Alan’s was named winner of a gold medal service award for outstanding customer service by Footwear Insight Magazine. Alan’s operates six stores in the Tucson area under the names Alan’s Shoe House, Alan’s Shoes, Alan’s Birkenstock and New Balance Tucson, as well as an e-commerce business at alansshoes.com.
Vantage West Credit Union: The credit unionโs president and CEO Robert D. Ramirez received a Community Service Award from the League of United Latin American Citizens.
Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP: The law firm is โhighly recommendedโ in the 2017 edition of Benchmark Litigation, with three of its Tucson attorneys also recognized. Robert Charles and John Iurino were named local litigation stars, and Jeffrey Sklar earned top litigator Under 40 and future star honors.
Bonnie J. Golden: Golden, of Yoga in Balance/Yoga with Bonnie, LLC, earned an additional certification and specialization as a โyoga for healthy agingโ instructor.
Laura Tanzer: Tanzer, a local womenโs clothing designer, competed in Phoenix Fashion Week 2016โs competition and received the Emerging Designer Of The Year prize. Her collection is made in Tucson by skilled sewing technicians.
