SAHBA to present Legacy Awards

The Southern Arizona Home Builders Association will present its first “Legacy Awards” to Peter Herder and Diamond Ventures Inc.

The awards will be presented at SAHBA’s annual installation and awards luncheon to be held Jan. 29 at the Westin La Paloma Resort.

“The Legacy Awards are in recognition of an individual and businesses who have made a positive, lasting impact on the local home-building industry,” said David Godlewski, SAHBA’s president.

Herder is a past chairman of the SAHBA executive board and a former chairman of the board of directors of the National Association of Home Builders.

Diamond Ventures Inc. develops and invests in a variety of residential real estate projects including large master-planned communities, builder neighborhoods and exclusive custom home communities.

UA endocrinologist earns commendation

The Arizona Chapter of the American Diabetes Association has awarded University of Arizona endocrinologist Dr. Merri L. Pendergrass its CARE Award. Pendergrass received the honor at the group’s annual recognition event Jan. 14 in Phoenix.

A professor of medicine, Pendergrass is director of the adult diabetes program in the Division of Endocrinology. She also is the key clinical faculty member for endocrinology in the UA Department of Medicine, a designation to accommodate a protected “academic half-day” funded by the department to mentor students and resident physicians, teach and serve a key role in training programs. She joined the faculty at the UA College of Medicine–Tucson in 2013.

Local attorney named ‘Lawyer of the Year’

Attorney Brian Clymer was recently selected Best Lawyers’ 2016 Workers’ Compensation Law-Claimants “Lawyer of the Year” for Tucson.

Additionally, Clymer was selected by his peers for inclusion in the The Best Lawyers in America 2016 in the practice area of workers’ compensation law-claimants.

Clymer is a 1978 graduate of the University of Arizona College of Law. He is a certified specialist in workers’ compensation law by the Arizona Board of Legal Specialization since 1983. He represents injured workers in workers’ compensation cases and Social Security disability cases.

Attorney ends 2015 with multiple honors

Jody Corrales of DeConcini McDonald Yetwin & Lacy P.C. earned several accolades in 2015.

Corrales, who focuses her practice on bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, joined DMYL in January 2015. She was selected as a Rising Star in the 2015 Southwest Super Lawyers publication for the third time in a row.

She was also selected by the Judges of the United States District Court in Arizona as a Lawyer Representative for the Ninth Circuit, serving a three-year term commencing October 2015.

In December Corrales was selected as a “40 Under 40” Honoree. The “40 Under 40” award is co-hosted by the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Arizona Daily Star. The award recognizes young leaders who are making an impact in the community with their professional and charitable work.

Corrales is a 2006 graduate of the James E. Rogers College of Law at The University of Arizona.
