BBB hands out
its Torch Awards

The Better Business Bureau of Southern Arizona honored finalists and winners at the 2016 Torch Awards, sponsored by Cox Business, Raskob Kambourian Financial Advisors, and Ameriprise Financial-Phil Pappas. The awards were handed out May 5 at event attended by more than 370 guests at Casino del Sol Resort.

The Ethics Award was given to Vistoso Automotive. Plum Windows and Doors, Grail Construction LLC and the Garage Center LLC were the other finalists.

The Good Neighbor Award was given to Claire’s Café. The other finalists were Bekki Harper Financial LLC and Plum Windows and Doors.

The Customer Excellence Award was given to BrakeMax Car Care Centers. Other finalists were Sunshine Experts Inc., Northwest Pet Clinic PLLC and Tucson Rolling Shutters Inc.

Women’s commission honors 11 at luncheon

The Pima County/Tucson Women’s Commission honored 11 women employed by Pima County and the city of Tucson at the April 29 Women in Government luncheon at the Tucson Convention Center.

County winners and the categories in which they won were: Chris Swenson-Smith, Pima County Juvenile Court, Leadership Award; Sarah Davis, Office of Medical Services, Unsung Heroine Award; Karen Hollish, Health Department, Rising Star Award; and Rosanna Cortez, Lysa Davis and Colleen Phelan, Pima County Attorney’s Office, Synergy Award.

City winners and the categories in which they won were: Julianne Hughes, City Manager’s Office, Leadership Award; Kelly Nuñez, Department of Transportation, Unsung Heroine Award; Marissa Jarvis, Information Technology, Rising Star Award; and Andrea Frank and Jelena Myers, Tucson Police Department, Synergy Award.

Kristin Jiroudek, Pima County ITD Project Management Office; Joella Gonzales, Tucson City Manager’s Office Administrative Assistant; and Shirley Muney, Pima County/Tucson Women’s Commission received special recognition for their work.

Tucson Councilwoman Regina Romero, Pima County Administrator Chuck Huckelberry and Tucson City Manager Mike Ortega were the speakers at the event.

Super Lawyers group
Recognizes 7 in Tucson

Seven attorneys from the Tucson law firm Rusing Lopez & Lizardi were recognized among the top lawyers in the Southwest by the national rating organization Super Lawyers.

Named as 2016 Southwest Super Lawyers were firm partners Mick Rusing, Pat P. Lopez III, Oscar S. Lizardi, Mark D. Lammers and Daniel J. Quigley. Earning recognition as 2016 Southwest Rising Stars were Sarah J. Stanton and Patricia V. Waterkotte.
