- Hamstra Heating and Cooling: Hamstra Helping Hands, the philanthropic arm of Hamstra Heating and Cooling, donated $8,000 toward an air conditioning system for Valley of the Moon’s historic adobe house. The modern mini-split AC system Hamstra installed will both heat and cool the house, providing for the first time ever a climate controlled indoor space at Valley of the Moon. The donation is part of a restoration project for the home, expected to be completed in October. The building will be used for offices, archive storage, historical displays, and as a multi-purpose educational space for meetings, workshops and public education.
- UNS Energy Corporation: The parent company of Tucson Electric Power will join Fortis Inc. and other Fortis subsidiaries to donate approximately $100,000 to the American Red Cross in support of residents and communities afflicted by Hurricane Harvey. Fortis Inc. will contribute $50,000 while UNS Energy Corporation, TEP’s parent company and a subsidiary of Fortis, will contribute $15,000 to the donation. UNS Energy’s contribution will be made using corporate resources, not customers’ rates.
- Autobahn Indoor Speedway: Anyone who donates $10 to Red Cross relief efforts for those affected by Hurricane Harvey will receive a one-time $10 discount at Autobahn Indoor Speedway & Events, 300 S. Toole Ave. The discount for the electric kart track is good through September 30. To receive the discount, show proof of the donation made via text and the Red Cross’ acknowledgment reply.
- Boot Barn: Boot Barn is holding a raffle and Build-A-Bike Contest to raise money for La Paloma Family Services Foster Care Program. The event will be held Saturday, Sept. 16, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 3719 N. Oracle Road to celebrate National Tradesman Day. Money raised will pay for bicycles that will be presented to foster children during the holiday season at La Paloma Family Services. To register for the contest or for more information, call 838-5593. La Paloma Family Services is a nonprofit organization that provides foster care and residential group home services to Tucson children who have experienced abuse, neglect and abandonment.
